Visits
These are a superb opportunity to learn first hand from successful housing estates and projects near you. These may even be free is they qualify for available funding, but the funding is limited.

Purpose of Visits
To assist residents in learning from the first hand experience of other residents in regenerating their Estate. This is particularly powerful when it incorporates a site visit, which acts as a giant visual aid, and incorporates face-to-face meetings with residents sharing their experience.

The Value of Visits
There are many projects involved in the REGENERATE programme that have experienced  frustrations and successes, covering all aspects of Regeneration including home improvements, jobs and training, funding trials, crime prevention, youth work, health provision etc. You name it and they are doing it. These projects are an inspiration and prove that the residents can be the key to successful and sustainable Regeneration.

The Regeneration Handbook (available from Neighbours4U) proved so popular with over 16,000 distributed, it has contributed to a demand for site visits. However good a handbook is, it is recognised that it is no substitute for seeing for yourself, visiting a giant visual aid, and meeting the residents involved face to face. Now thanks to a grant from the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit and the Department for Education and Skills, through Regenerate, Neighbours4U is able to contribute to the travel costs of resident groups, to visit these “Beacon Estates” and also cover the hosts' costs.

A Typical Site Visit
Each visit lasts approximately 3 hours with a tour of the site, description and history of the services and activities, and plenty of time for questions. The hosts and their visitors make all arrangements for the visits. Through REGENERATE, Neighbours4U will arrange a host contact responsible for bookings and visits.

Contributions to Visitors Travel
These are available for visitors to projects within the agreed Guide Neighbourhood list, subject to availability and to the host project agreeing to accept a visit. They can be agreed in principle before the visit by completing a claim form in outline only, and submitted, in detail with receipts, after the visit has been completed.

Contributions will be made on a first come first served basis.

Neither Neighbours4U, Hope in the Community Ltd, the Funders, Regenerate or Housing Justice can accept any responsibility for the experience or any advice given during these visits.

“These visits inspire you with great ideas to apply back home”

“It’s fun and a great day out”
